Survey Teams
This section of the website houses a brief overview of each type of LCME survey visit and where to find relevant information if you are a survey team member preparing for an upcoming survey visit.
Full Survey Visits
The survey team for a full survey normally consists of five or six members, including a designated team chair and team secretary. Teams may also include a faculty fellow who is an individual, nominated by his or her dean, who will play a significant role in his or her own school’s accreditation preparation in the future. All full survey visits are in-person.
Limited Survey Visits
The survey team for a limited survey normally consists of three or four members, including a designated team chair and team secretary. All limited survey visits are virtual.
Provisional and Preliminary Survey Visits
The survey team for a provisional or preliminary survey normally consists of three or four members, including a designated team chair and team secretary. All provisional and preliminary survey visits are in-person.
All team members are expected to participate in LCME team training.
Details on each survey team member and the entire survey visit process (before, during, and after the visit) can be found in Guidelines for the Planning and Conduct of Accreditation Survey Visits and Rules of Procedure.
