The LCME accredits medical education programs leading to the MD degree in the United States and Canada. United States graduates of LCME-accredited programs are eligible for residency programs accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and are eligible to take the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE). This includes programs with any of the following accreditation statuses: full, preliminary, provisional, on probation. Read more about the LCME accreditation process.
For medical schools that have multiple campuses, all of the school’s campuses hold the same level of LCME accreditation.
The LCME does not accredit medical education programs leading to the MD degree outside of the passport-granting areas of the United States and Canada.
